DIET PLANS

Being stylish and keeping up with grooming rituals are only part of what makes you, well you! You look great with your clothes on, but what happens when they come off? 90% of your health comes from what you put into your own body. If your diet consists of poor unhealthy foods, your body will show just that.

There are many different kinds of diet plans out there, each designed for a different purpose, are you looking to gain or lose weight? Do you have any belief system that affects your diet choice? Here are some examples of diet plans:

PALEO - The Paleo Diet is an effort replicate the diet of our early ancestors. If a caveman couldn't eat it, neither can you. Food available to prehistoric man included meats, fish, nuts, leafy greens, regional veggies, and seeds. So no more pasta, cereal, and sugary snacks.

KETOGENIC - Ketosis is a metabolic process that occurs when the body does not have enough glucose for energy. Stored fats are broken down for energy, resulting in a build-up of acids called ketones within the body. Some people encourage ketosis by following a diet called the ketogenic or low-carb diet. A keto diet is well known for being a low carb diet, where the body produces ketones in the liver to be used as energy. It's referred to as many different names – ketogenic diet, low carb diet, low carb high fat (LCHF), etc. When you eat something high in carbs, your body will produce glucose and insulin.

DASH - The DASH diet emphasizes foods that are lower in sodium as well as foods that are rich in potassium, magnesium and calcium — nutrients that help lower blood pressure. The DASH diet features menus with plenty of vegetables, fruits and low-fat dairy products, as well as whole grains, fish, poultry and nuts.

TLC - Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC) is a program that can help you lower cholesterol. The lifestyle changes include diet, exercise, weight loss, and not smoking. Your doctor will want you to follow TLC even if you are taking cholesterol-lowering medicine. And medicine will work better if you have healthy habits.

MEDITERRANEAN - The Mediterranean diet is a type traditional in Mediterranean countries, characterized especially by a high consumption of vegetables and olive oil and moderate consumption of protein, and thought to confer health benefits. Researchers found that people who eat a Mediterranean diet have lower odds of having a heart attack.
